Novato, Calif.-based Marin Community Clinics was hit with a ransomware attack on June 19, which forced physicians to use paper documentation that would later be transferred to the EHR, according to the HIPAA Journal.
Marin Community Clinics decided to pay an undisclosed percentage of the ransom to get the encryption codes, reports the HIPAA Journal. The health group was able to get its computer systems back online on June 22.
The health group is still in the data recovery process; however, Marin Community Clinics is confident that no major data was lost.
No patient information was compromised from the ransomware attack, Marin Community Clinics' CEO Mitesh Popat said.
